History's Most Precious Night: The Greatest Gift

Updated: Feb 21, 2022

'. . . Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). ' Isaiah 7:14 NLT

Once upon a precious time,

A virgin found favour in God's eyes.

Before men, she was ordinary and young.

Yet extraordinary before God.

Her life changed the moment the angel appeared to her

And told her about the work that God was to do through her.

Her fiancé, mentioned the least, played a significant role in this story.

He made sure that she was in the best condition for delivery.

He sacrificed sexual relations with her until the child's birth.

He walked by faith and in obedience.

He took it upon himself to be her support system

Despite all the humiliation she had to experience.

Nine months after the annunciation, a King was born,

In the messiest, humblest, and unimaginable form

Fit for a King.

The King had a manger for a crib: a structure that holds animals' meals.

He was born in a setting not even fit for a servant.

In a land that was once overlooked came out His first cry.

The idea of status to represent prestige was flipped

By this most precious night in history.

God sacrificed His one and only Son

For the salvation of the world.

He expressed through Him

His unconditional love that no one else could give.

Love came down in its purest form

To give us eternal dwelling with the Father, the Spirit, and the Son.

This act brought hope to humanity

And will be remembered for eternity.

He sent Jesus just for you,

To assure you

That you have always been and will always be loved,

And that there is nothing you can do to earn this unfailing love.

Jesus came to nullify the status quo.

He came in a way that disrupted man's preconceived hope.

He came to make a new way

And show that there's beauty even in the most unexpected place.

"Can anything good come out of Nazareth?"

The Savior of the world is evidence.

He was born without blemish,

Not conceived by imperfection but by the Perfect Holy Spirit.

The purity of a virgin girl uniting

With the righteousness of God's Spirit

Became symbolic.

What seemed impossible to men became a reality.

The Savior, being God himself, became one of us

To show and teach a lifestyle unknown to us

That could solely be lived through Him.

He became the ultimate example of a life well-lived.

He came to save those who were lost

And bring hope to our hopeless world.

He came to breathe life into every dead spirit.

Predominantly, He came to mend the ultimate relationship.

On that precious night, an unparalleled light shone,

Extinguishing darkness forever from the world.
